Here is my review for the soon to be released book by <a class="profileLink" data-hovercard-prefer-more-content-show="1" data-hovercard="/ajax/hovercard/user.php?id=706082711&extragetparams=%7B%22fref%22%3A%22mentions%22%7D" href="https://www.facebook.com/gary.renard.7?fref=mentions" style="color: #365899; cursor: pointer; font-family: inherit; text-decoration-line: none;">Gary Renard</a>'s very lovely wife, Cindy Lora-Renard, titled A Course in Health and Well-Being. (Picture is of me with Cindy at the University of Toronto; May 2015)</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #1d2129; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 6px;">
In this book, the author, Cindy Lora-Renard, shares her thoughts on the principles of A Course in Miracles with a focus on health and well-being, explaining how sickness is always of the mind and has absolutely nothing to do with the body. Cindy explains the steps<span class="text_exposed_show" style="display: inline; font-family: inherit;"> to apply true forgiveness and how it is the means for healing and awakening from the dream of experiencing yourself as a body, as the body itself is just a projection of the mind; it doesn’t really exist. Practical suggestions on how one can apply this concept into his or her life to help bring about this experience are also shared.</span></div>
<div class="text_exposed_show" style="background-color: white; color: #1d2129; display: inline; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">
<div style="font-family: inherit; margin-bottom: 6px;">
Cindy also talks about a few of her own trials and tribulations which she applied the Course’s message of true forgiveness to, stressing the importance of non-attachment. As she so eloquently puts it, “The goal of the Course is to experience peace regardless of what is going on in the world or in your body. That is true power; the power to choose peace under any and all circumstances.“</div>
<div style="font-family: inherit; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 6px;">
In addition to making very clear distinctions between what traditionally passes as forgiveness in this world – what A Course in Miracles refers to as “forgiveness to destroy” – and what true forgiveness really entails, Cindy stays true to the pure non-dualistic message of the Course, the message being that there is no world and only God is real. Because of that, this book reads similarly to Gary Renard’s <a class="profileLink" data-hovercard-prefer-more-content-show="1" data-hovercard="/ajax/hovercard/page.php?id=455940744450559&extragetparams=%7B%22fref%22%3A%22mentions%22%7D" href="https://www.facebook.com/GaryRRenardDU/?fref=mentions" style="color: #365899; cursor: pointer; font-family: inherit; text-decoration-line: none;">The Disappearance of the Universe</a> trilogy, but without the in-your-face dialogue and smart ass banter. So if you’re looking for a kinder, gentler approach to pure non-dualism then this is for you.</div>
<div style="font-family: inherit; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 6px;">
As a result of presenting A Course in Miracles in a consistent and non-compromising fashion - which seems to be rare among those who are labeled as “teachers” of the Course - Cindy has my utmost respect as a presenter, speaker, writer, and teacher of Jesus’ Course. Giddy up!</div>

<a aria-describedby="js_hs" aria-haspopup="true" aria-owns="js_hr" class="profileLink" data-hovercard="/ajax/hovercard/user.php?id=706082711" href="https://www.facebook.com/gary.renard.7" id="js_ht" style="color: #3b5998; cursor: pointer; text-decoration: none;">G</a>ary Renard is the frickin' man! Gotta love this Gary character, he really sticks to the Course! Giddy up!</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #141823; font-family: helvetica, arial, 'lucida grande', sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 15.4559993743896px; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 6px;">
In addition to what Gary shares in this letter, I would also add that from my personal observation, that those who are usually drawn to versions of the Course not published by The Foundation for Inner Peace usually make it about what you DO in the world, messing around with effects, rather than taking care of the mind, which is cause. Yet the Course teaches, "This is <span class="text_exposed_show" style="display: inline;">a course in cause and not effect."</span></div>
<div class="text_exposed_show" style="background-color: white; color: #141823; display: inline; font-family: helvetica, arial, 'lucida grande', sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 15.4559993743896px;">
<div style="margin-bottom: 6px;">
Additionally, those same people don't seem ready to accept the idea that they don't really exist as an individual soul or identity of any kind. But as the Course tells you, "You can defend your specialness, but never will you hear the Voice for God beside it."</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 6px;">
Now, I don't say any of this to condemn anyone in any way, as people can only accept what they're ready to accept, but as Arten and Pursah would say, "We don’t mean to be disrespectful, but we have to make certain controversial statements because there’s not exactly an oversupply of people in your society (or Course community) who are willing to point these things out."</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 6px;">
<span style="line-height: 15.4559993743896px;">Anyway, here's what I Gary wrote in response to comments made at the NYC conference about the Foundation for Inner Peace's version of A Course in Miracles being a lie.</span></div>

Part 2<span class="userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">Part 2<br /> If it's all scripted, and the script is already written, why bother to do anything then? This excerpt from Your Immortal Reality answers that question. </span><br />
<span class="userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}"><br />
Gary: Okay, I have a question. Every now and then I read about one of
these Nazis who escaped to South America, and there will be a report
that the guy died and he was like in his 80s or 90s or something. Now
I’ve been told<span class="text_exposed_show"> for the last 25 years
that my thinking determines my health. So how come these jerks get to
live to be a hundred? I mean, what kind of thoughts must THEY have been
having most of their lives? <br /> <br /> Arten: Get a grip, Gary. Your
thoughts determine your EXPERIENCE of life, not WHAT happens n your
life. What happens on the level of form – how long you live, how rich
or poor you are, whether or not you’re faced with the challenge of heart
disease, stroke, cancer, or what have you – was all determined before
you ever appeared to be born. The instant you chose the ego on that
metaphysical level, everything else was a done deal. That’s why life
here isn’t fair. And don’t ask why you should even bother! I just said
you DO determine your EXPERIENCE with your thoughts, and your
experience is what’s important. <br /> <br /> The only real power you have
here is the power to choose between the ego and the Holy Spirit. In the
process, if you happen to change dimensions of time through the Holy
Spirit’s collapsing of time and thus have a different scenario play
itself out within the fixed script, then you should consider that to be a
fringe benefit. That’s not what the Course is about, though. <br /> <br />
As for the collapsing of time, remember that only the Holy Spirit knows
what’s best for everyone. Put Him in charge of time and space. Put
the one in charge who knows everything. If you’re sick and your
symptoms change through choosing forgiveness, then consider THAT to be a
fringe benefit, also. The real goal is Heaven, but the short-term goal
is peace, and the end of all pain and suffering. It’s absolutely
within your means to learn to end all pain and suffering, despite
anything that appears to be happening in the world and regardless of
what your symptoms appear to be. That’s the Holy Spirit’s answer to the
ego’s script of guilt, pain, suffering, and death. <br /> <br /> Gary: So
that Nazi would have lied to be 90, anyway, but the quality of his life
and how he experiences those 90 years is determined by his thoughts,
and that also goes for his spiritual progress and how many more
lifetimes he has to come back for. <br /> <br /> Arten: Exactly. Excellent.</span></span><br />
<br />

Part 1<span class="userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">If it's all scripted, and the script is already written, why bother to do anything then? This excerpt from The Disappearance of the Universe answers that question. </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<span class="userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">Pursah: You may think you have free will here and that you can
determine what's going to happen to you, but the truth is it's all
happened already. You're just playing the tape, watching and listening -
thinking<span class="text_exposed_show"> it's all real and a result of your own volition or chance on this level, rather than a set-up from another level. <br /> <br /> Gary: Why should I bother to do anything, then? <br /> <br />
Pursah: Two reasons. First of all, even though it's a closed system,
there are different scenarios open to you in each lifetime. Making a
different choice that doesn't involve the Holy Spirit within the dream
won't undo your unconscious guilt and get you out of the system, but it
can result in a temporarily different experience. <br /> <br /> It's like a
multiple choice script, where if you make a different decision, then a
different scenario will play itself out. If you make one decision, you
get the girl and have a good time - but if you make another decision,
you blow it and end up with depression. It's even possible to live the
same lifetime over again, with a different set of earthly results. Once
again, none of that will get you where you really want to be. It will
just keep you stuck here, attempting to achieve temporary happiness.<br /> <br />
The other, far more important reason why you should be engaged in your
decision-making is to return to your right mind and choose the Holy
Spirit instead of the ego, which WILL get you where you really want to
be. Forgiveness has its fringe benefits in the dream, some of which are
not always obvious to you, For instance, let's say a man murders his
wife, or a woman murders her husband. One of them is dead, and the
other spends the rest of their life in prison or gets executed. But
what if they had learned to forgive, and there was no killing? Would
that change things on this level? <br /> <br /> Gary: It would change everything, and people probably wouldn't even be aware of it. <br /> <br />
Pursah: Yes. That's an extreme example, but ere are thousands of
scenarios where even on the level of form, forgiveness has results - <br />
and you often don’t realize how much better off you are than you would
have been if you didn’t forgive. That’s why you want to develop a trust
for the Holy Spirit. He really does know what’s best for you. So
don’t think it’s not important for you to take charge of your own mind
from this level. Indeed, it’s what the Course is training you to do.
Control of your mind even gives you the power to stop pain in your body.</span></span><br />

Some, maybe even most, politicians are sincere in doing some good
before they take office. But once they get elected, they're pretty much
just puppets on a string attempting to rearrange the furniture in a
burning house. So suffice it to say that Mikey has no use for politics.
Thoug<span class="text_exposed_show">h I will vote during the
presidential race, and on a few occasional local measures, but do so
without any attachment to the outcome. I should also note that yes I do
believe the U.S. government was involved in orchestrating the events of
September 11, 2001, but does it really matter? The world can't really be
fixed, it can only be awakened from. It's just a dream.</span></span></span><br />

This quote from The Disappearance of the Universe, is dedicated to him:<br /> <br />
Today, whenever the Course is translated into a foreign language, it's
Ken's job to make sure that the translator truly understands every
single line of the almost 1300 pages. That doesn't mean that Ken is the
only teacher of the Course, but he will be viewed in the future as the
greatest one. He's the one whom students and scholars will still be
reading hundreds, even thousands of years from now.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span class="fbPhotosPhotoCaption" data-ft="{"type":45,"tn":"*G"}" id="fbPhotoSnowliftCaption" tabindex="0"><span class="hasCaption">Here's what Gary Renard had to say about Ken's passing:<br /> </span></span><br />
<br />
I was sitting watching a movie I had gotten from Netflix last night
when Cindy came into the room. She had a very serious look on her face.
Cindy doesn't usually have a very serious look on her face. She's
usually light and breezy. She told me she had some sad news, and I knew
immediately that someone we loved had passed away. The only question
was who? Then she told me that Ken Wapnick had made his transition. I
was a little surprised, not that it happened but that it had happened
so soon. I guess I thought we had more time.<br />
<br />
I met
Ken about a half dozen times, including a few private meetings, and
exchanged about 20 letters with him, which I still have. I'm not going
to write a lot about my experience of Ken right now. I think that would
be more appropriate for a book. I know I'm going to be thinking about
him for a long time, and that things will come to me that I want to
share with you. So for now I'll just say something about the first time I
met him, because it speaks volumes about the kind of person he was.
Arten and Pursah had guided me that I should meet Ken and learn
everything I could from him. I can't say I learned everything I could
from him, but I certainly learned a lot. I had driven ten hours to
Roscoe, New York in June of 1998 to see Ken give a presentation called
"Time and A Course in Miracles." Ken spoke about ten hours on the
subject over the weekend and I was dazzled by his brilliance. I got to
sit down and talk with him in private because I had requested to do so,
and he had consented. I wanted to tell him about the book I was writing
and that I wanted to use a lot of quotes from the Course, but that I
would make sure to credit the Course correctly. I was nervous, and Ken
knew it.<br />
<br />
I'll never forget how kind he was to me.
Eventually Ken would be the first person to read The Disappearance of
the Universe. But more importantly, as the years went on, I would
sometimes hear him say, "Be kind." I already knew from experience that
Ken didn't just say things, he lived them. He was the kindest person I
ever met, and he inspired me to remember to be kind to people. Of course
there is much more to say about the person who Arten and Pursah
described as the Course's greatest teacher. But for now what I'm
thinking about the most is what a beautiful person he was, and how he
went out of his way to be kind to me when he didn't have to.<br />
<br />
Cindy and I joined hands last night, and I spoke to Ken and expressed
my gratitude to him. I know that he's having a very good time right
now, and that we are the ones who still have to deal with what's in
front of our face. Fortunately, we will always have Ken's work to help
us do that. I love you Ken. giddyupmikeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03722948372609856768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8736110299495412558.post-31223231129566815252013-10-09T10:34:00.000-07:002013-10-09T10:34:37.993-07:00Love Has Forgotten No One is Now Available!<span class="userContent">Gary Renard's long anticipated 3rd book, Love Has Forgotten No One: The Answer to Life is finally out! </span><br />

<span class="userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}"><br /></span>
<span class="userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">3 out of 5 Stars</span><br />
<span class="userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}"><br /></span>
<span class="userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">Just Doesn't Go Deep Enough</span><br />
<br />Before I get started, I should state that I don't write this review to
be judgey of the author or the lovers of this book. I believe this
philanthropic woman is very sincere in trying to be truly helpful, and
has been by presenting ideas that meet many people where they are at
with their spirituality.<br /><br />With that said, however, I don't find
this to be the ideal book to learn about <i>A Course in Miracles.</i> And as
Jesus (or as I like call him, J-Dog) says in the <i>Course</i>, "Contrast and
differences are necessary teaching aids, for by them you learn what to
avoid and what to seek." And, "The Holy Spirit must teach through
comparisons, and uses opposites to point to truth."<br /><br />Now, I am
certainly not saying that the author has nothing of value to say here,
and that you should avoid this book. It's obviously been very helpful
to many people in its own right over the years. And it could very well
be exactly what you need for yourself right now. The author certainly
has some good things to share. The problem with this book is that it
doesn't really represent the true message of <i>A Course in Miracles</i>, which
is referred to in the sub-title of this book.<br /><br />What you really
have here is a New Age/Self-Help, semi-dualistic interpretation of the
<i>Course</i>, while the Course itself is a purely non-dualistic teaching by
nature, meaning that God is and nothing else is. The <i>Return to Love</i>
book speaks on the same level as the popular New Age authors whose books
I studied in the mid 1990s through early 2000s, most notably Wayne Dyer
and Neale Walsch. For me personally, I got to the point on my
spiritual path where I outgrew that level of teaching just as everyone
else will (or has) at some point. This level of teaching simply just
doesn't go deep enough, even if it appears to be very enlightening.<br /><br />Thus
that leads to the other big problem with this book, from <i>A Course in
Miracles </i>perspective, is that what the author has to say is geared
towards changing the conscious mind and not addressing the unconscious
mind, which is what REALLY runs us. Changing the conscious mind will
only have a temporary, helpful impact at best. Like most of the iceberg
is underneath the surface of the ocean, you can't see it; most of the
mind is out of our awareness. But there is a way to get in touch with
it, but you won't find that way in this book. And I know for me
personally, I didn't make serious progress on my spiritual path until I
started addressing the unconscious part of my mind.<br /><br />On a level
that we are not consciously aware of, we have this guilt buried in the
mind over the seeming separation from God, what the Course refers to as
the "blocks to the awareness of love's presence," and "the secret sins
and hidden hates" which we must undo via the true forgiveness process
outlined in the Course in order to really be free. As the Course
states, "Of one thing you were sure: of all the many causes you
perceived as bringing pain and suffering to you, your guilt was not
among them." This unconscious guilt shows up to us symbolically in the
form of all our negative emotions.<br /><br />The author does talk about the
importance of forgiveness, however, there is no real explanation as to
what true forgiveness entails, and HOW to apply it in whatever comes up
in front of your face on any given day. And leaving out the fact that
all our problems are symbolic of the seeming separation from God, "A
sense of separation from God is the only lack you really need correct."
So the Course teaches that, "Forgiveness is the only function
meaningful in time." And, "The way to God is through forgiveness here.
There is no other way."<br /><br />Another thing going on here with this
book is that the author uses terms such as "energy"; "consciousness";
"vibration"; and such, making them out to be important and real.
However, the Course says of such ideas that they are "...the domain of
the ego." The Course also teaches that there is no hierarchy of
illusions, "All that a hierarchy of illusions can show is preference,
not reality."<br /><br />Also, the author talks about God in a way that
implies that God acknowledges our individual lives here on earth, and
that God and the "power of the universe" are one and the same. The
author even has prayers in the book that begin with "Dear God." Yet the
Course teaches, "The secret of true prayer is to forget the things you
think you need."<br /><br />And according to the Course, there is no world,
so how could God acknowledge anything happening in the world, when there
isn't one. A pretty far out idea for many, I grant you that, but that
is what the Course is teaching and NOT what the author is writing about
in this book. And the Course doesn't just say that there is no world.
It says, "There is no world! This is the central thought the Course
attempts to teach." And, "Whatever is true is eternal and cannot change
or be changed." The universe, therefore, is obviously not true, not of
God, and has no power. The Course also says, "The world you see is an
illusion of a world. God did not create it, for what He creates must be
eternal as Himself. Yet there is nothing in the world you see that
will endure forever."<br /><br />There's barely any mention about going Home
in this book, which is what the Course is ultimately all about. Even
in the section called Heaven's Gate, the author goes on a political
spiel instead, making the world out to be something that needs to be
fixed. Yet the Course teaches that the world cannot be fixed, "There is
no point in trying to change the world. It is incapable of change
because it is merely an effect. But there is indeed a point in changing
your thoughts about the world. Here you are changing the cause. The
effect will change automatically." And the Course teaches, "This is a
course in cause and not effect."<br /><br />So there is no explanation on
what it means to go Home, and how to go about doing that. And as the
Course says, "This world you seem to live in is not home to you. And
somewhere in your mind you know that this is true." And, "This world is
not where you belong. You are a stranger here. But it is given you to
find the means whereby the world no longer seems to be a prison house
or jail for anyone." So you won't be finding the way to return to where
you really belong through this book, at least not by taking it at face
value. You're likely to be left with the idea it's about making your
life better rather than awakening from what you think of as your life.
And there's no mention of our lives being self-predetermined. Like the
Course teaches, "The secret of salvation is but this: that you are doing
this unto yourself."<br /><br />Furthermore, there's no mention of how time
and space is adjusted by the Holy Spirit and disappears for us as we
perform a miracle, a miracle meaning that we apply forgiveness on
whatever comes up in front of our faces on any given day. "When you
perform a miracle, I will arrange both time and space to adjust to it."
And, "The miracle shortens time by collapsing it, thus eliminating
certain intervals within it."<br /><br />The author also implies that our
uniqueness, individual identity is something to be valued. Yet with the
final destination of the Course being the return to Oneness, you can't
have both Oneness and individual identities; it's impossible. And the
Course teaches, "Forgiveness is the end of specialness." And, "You can
defend your specialness, but never will you hear the Voice for God
beside it."<br /><br />I understand, and this is perfectly ok, that very few
are ready for the real message of A Course in Miracles which is why
there are so many mis-interpretations of the Course out there such as
this one. The real message is just too threatening for one's ego for
most people at this point in time, including many who consider
themselves to be spiritually progressive when they are actually rather
conservative. So, it's just a matter of what you're ready to accept,
nothing wrong with that, but people shouldn't confuse this book as being
the same as the Course.<br /><br />Don't get me wrong, I do feel that this
is a good book for people wanting to investigate new ideas and break
free from the thinking of the world and the confines of organized
religion, or perhaps for people who struggle with low self-esteem; this
would certainly be a step in the right direction. But this book is more
about "don't die with an unmet potential" or "live life to the fullest"
or "become a better human" kind of a book; certainly nothing wrong with
that. However, Return to Love leaves much to be desired if you're
looking for a clear explanation on what A Course is Miracles is really
all about; you'll just end up confused and conflicted because it's not
consistent with the Course, even if you're not consciously aware of it.<br /><br />Just
from the Introduction piece alone the author states, "Love is what we
were born with. Fear is what we have learned here." And, "We came here
to co-create with God by extending love." Well, if we didn't have fear,
we would not have been born into this world to begin with. In fact,
the Course says, "The world was made as an attack on God. It symbolizes
fear." So we're not here to co-create with God, we're not really here,
we need to awaken from the belief that we are here and return to where
we are a co-creator with God and the same as God, by removing the
"blocks to the awareness of love's (God's) presence" via the true
forgiveness process.<br /><br />So if you are indeed looking for a book that puts A Course in Miracles into the everyday vernacular, without compromising on the integrity of its message, I would highly recommend <i>The Disappearance of the Universe: Straight Talk About Illusions, Past Lives, Religion, Sex, Politics, and the Miracles of Forgiveness </i>by Gary Renard. It explains <i>A Course in Miracles</i> like nothing else does, and is the only book (along with his follow up book, <i>Your Immortal Reality: How to Break the Cycle of Birth and Death,</i> I've ever read on spirituality that made total sense to me from cover to cover, and left me with no unanswered questions.<br /><br />Gary's
books are the real deal when it comes to the Course, you many not like
everything said, and it may downright piss you off, but you will get the
straight up truth, no sugarcoating, and no being told what you
necessarily want to hear. Like it states, "As with Jesus' teachings of
2,000 years ago, the world is attempting to do its usual job of
obliterating the truth by incorporating parts of it into its illusions
and covering over the real message of the Holy Spirit. We won't leave
out the ideas you don't like. If you resist them or don't want to
accept them after you hear them then that's your decision, but at least
it won't be because you weren't told."<br /><br />Giddy up!<br /><br /><a href="http://www.amazon.com/review/R2D68S7UW1DPXP/ref=cm_cr_pr_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B000VYX944&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=#wasThisHelpful" target="_blank">Review of Return to Love on Amazon</a>giddyupmikeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03722948372609856768noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8736110299495412558.post-86557017371357218282013-04-18T16:00:00.000-07:002013-04-18T16:00:02.892-07:00There's a Cure for Everything<span class="userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">I
heard on a radio show today, “Alcoholism is a disease, and there is no
cure." I was like “What? Are you kidding me? Of course there's a cure,
there's a cure for everything!” <br /> <br /> You just got in touch with
the part of your mind that drives you to drink (or fill in any other
disease or self-destructive habit) which is the unconscious guilt aka
“your secret sins and hidden hates,” which really runs<span class="text_exposed_show">
you, and undo it via true forgiveness. Like A Course in Miracles
states,“Only salvation can be said to cure.” And, “Salvation and
forgiveness are the same.” It goes on to say, “Atonement does not heal
the sick, for that is not a cure. It takes away the guilt that makes
the sickness possible. And that is cure indeed. “ And, “The means of
the Atonement is forgiveness.” Once you remove enough unconscious guilt
via true forgiveness, then you’ll no longer find self-punishment

currently in a study group where somebody may be driving you crazy! I'm
certain I was a forgiveness opportunity for some when I used to go; I
didn't compromise on the integrity of the <i>Course</i> and I probably laughed a little "too much." LOL<br />
<br />
Excerpt from <i>The Disappearance of the Universe </i>on <i>A Course in Miracles</i> study groups:<br />
Gary discusses his forgiveness opportunity he had at his ACIM study group in Maine in the 1990s<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DdC3fKtYaKo/UWb1mSB5VKI/AAAAAAAAAVM/4PgOhLZB_xU/s1600/251815_461934840500432_168442433183009_1739272_1071862258_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DdC3fKtYaKo/UWb1mSB5VKI/AAAAAAAAAVM/4PgOhLZB_xU/s640/251815_461934840500432_168442433183009_1739272_1071862258_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
In the weeks following this extraordinary learning encounter with
Pursah, I noticed my increasingly negative reaction to a member of my
study group. This guy, whom I regarded as a friend, was a very loud and
aggressive speaker, and he often dominated the time spent discussing
the <i>Course</i> at our meetings. <br />
<br />
His knowledge of the <i>Course</i> was impressive; I don’t know if I’ve ever met someone not known publicly as a <i>Course</i> teacher who knew more about it than he did. The problem was, he used his technical knowledge of the <i>Course</i>
to make himself right and others wrong – instead of using it to
forgive. This is a pitfall the ego can employ to ensnare any intelligent
<i>Course</i> student, resulting in an attitude that says, <i>Look at me. I know so much more than you I must be very enlightened! </i><br />
<i><br /></i>
My friend’s behavior in the group drove home for me the fact that it’s
not just what you know, it’s what you do with it. Indeed, just knowing
how to forgive wouldn’t get me home if I didn’t really do it. And who
could provide a better opportunity for applying my new knowledge than my
friend, whose abrasive teaching style took up so much time at our
meetings? <br />
<br />
What could his loud pronouncements
be but a call for love? And what was the surest way to experience love
but by removing everything in the way of that love, via forgiveness? I
considered the possibility that Pursah and the <i>Course</i> were
right; as I watched and listened to my friend at our meetings, I tried
to comprehend that he wasn’t really there. I was only dreaming, and he
was a figure I had made up so I could identify him as the problem
causing my lack of peace (i.e., my annoyance with him.) In my ego’s
script he was the guilty one, not me – but now I could change my mind.
It didn’t really matter if I got in touch with the form of my own guilt
that he was symbolizing for me. All that mattered was that I forgive.
The Holy Spirit would take care of the details. <br /><br /> Without
separation, this guy couldn’t exist apart from me – and if our
separation from God was an illusion, then neither one of us could
possibly exist as individuals. <i>What I was seeing wasn’t really there. </i>I
could now perceive innocence, or true perception, by having the
attitude that he was entirely without guilt. I could forgive him for
what wasn’t really happening. In that view, my own sins of which I
covertly accused myself were also forgiven. I released my brother to
the Holy Spirit in peace, and thus I was released as well. <br />
<br />
I knew this episode was just one step; along the way ahead there would
certainly be resistance to forgiving many more “difficult” people and
unpleasant circumstances. Miracles were all the same to the Holy
Spirit, but definitely not to the ego. I wouldn’t always want to look
at my ego as projected onto others. Noticing that very resistance was
an essential part of doing the <i>Course.</i> <br />
<br />
In fact, forgiving myself when I<i> didn’t </i>do the <i>Course</i>
very well was a major part of the process. My ego couldn’t be forgiven
and undone without looking at it first – and how did it show up most
dramatically except in the desire <i>not</i> to forgive? True, I had
resistance, but also persistence. Sometimes it would take me a second, a
minute, a half-hour or a day, but whenever I felt the pitchforks of
judgment rising up within me, ready to condemn something or someone who
appeared to be outside of me, I would always change my mind, forgive,
and remember Who my brothers and sisters really were. Then, as it must
certainly follow, I would remember Who I was.<br />
<br />
Perhaps this is how an ordinary life can become a great one, without the
world even knowing. For when I practiced true forgiveness, it didn’t
really matter to me what the world thought it knew. <br />
<br />
<b>More from <i>The Disappearance of the Universe</i> on <i>A Course in Miracles</i> study groups:</b><br />
<br />
<span> Study groups are not mentioned at all in the <i>Course; </i>they
should be viewed primarily as a social phenomenon. They are not always
the best sources of information either, but if they are given to the
Holy Spirit and used for forgiveness, then you can be certain He’ll be
happy to participate with you. </span><br />
<br />
<span> Study
groups are not about joining with individuals on the level of the
world, but for the sake of forgiveness that becomes possible through the
relationships and the examination of your own ego. In study groups,
churches, or anywhere else in this world, it appears that there are
multiple teachers and learners. But there is really only one Teacher of
the <i>Course</i> – and only one student. </span><br />
<br />
<b>An excerpt from <i>Dude, Where's My Jesus Fish? </i>about study groups:</b><br />
<br />
<span> As far as I’m concerned, <i>Course</i> groups are not about the<i> Course</i>. Sitting around in a circle and taking turns reading from the <i>Course </i>book doesn’t do anything for me. In fact, it usually bores the hell out of me. If I want to spend two hours reading from the <i>Course</i>, well, I don’t need people to do that, I can just stay home and do that on my own. For me, <i>Course</i> groups are all about sharing experiences, being with people of like-mind and enjoying their company, and <i>especially</i> for practicing forgiveness on those whose company you<i> don’t</i> necessarily enjoy. (LOL) </span><br />
<br />
<span> For me, it’s not about seeing how many pages of the <i>Course</i> the group can plow through during any given session. Also, anybody new to Gary’s books and the <i>Course </i>should be studying it on their own, and not relying on people from <i>Course </i>groups to teach them. One reason for that being is that you are not likely to find total agreement on what the <i>Course</i>
is saying amongst the people in the group, so you’ll just end up
confused and thinking we’re all a bunch of idiots. But what I love
about Gary’s books is that Arten and Pursah spell it all out for you on
what the <i>Course</i> is <i>really</i> saying. </span><br />

<br />
Hi Friends, <img align="left" alt="Gary Renard" border="0" height="318" hspace="6" src="http://www.gracetouch.com/Renard/images/GaryNewHeadshot.jpg" width="245" /><br />
<br />
The third book in the <i>Disappearance</i> trilogy, <i>Love Has Forgotten No One</i>,
is complete and will be released by my publisher, Hay House, on October
8th. I know for some of you eight months may seem like a long way off,
but in the publishing business it's not. Hay House publishes a lot of
books, and they've chosen an excellent time of year to release <i>Love Has Forgotten No One</i>.
I'm very excited about how it came out. As you'll see in the book
itself, there were forgiveness opportunities that led to its delay, but I
think that makes it a better book. <i>LHFNO</i> is also closely related to the TV series we're working on that's based on my books (<a href="http://www.dotutv.com/" target="_blank">www.dotutv.com</a>).<br />
<br />
Because this is a trilogy, I'm encouraging people to either read or
re-read the first two books before reading the third one. The three fit
together, like a hologram. My Ascended Master teachers, Arten and Pursah
have blown my mind again, even when I thought they couldn't surprise me
anymore. The book continues and accelerates the process of undoing the
ego. It's a fascinating, roller coaster ride to the mysterious truths
behind the modern spiritual masterpiece, <i>A Course in Miracles</i>.
Arten and Pursah will take you, along with me, on a whirlwind tour of
the after-life, teach you a method that will, with practice, melt away
all of your past bad karma, and reveal the ingredient that's missing in
almost all the popular "self help" practices of today. By the end of
this book, you will discover that, indeed, <i>Love Has Forgotten No One</i>. I hope you'll share the release date with everyone you know.<br />
<br />
Thanks and love,
<br />

defines what the Course is teaching, and it encapsulates what the Course
is saying. ~ <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Your-Immortal-Reality/288437814603396" target="_blank">Your Immortal Reality</a><br />
<br />
For those who haven't already checked it out, I highly recommend Gary
Renard’s <a href="https://www.facebook.com/GaryRRenardDU" target="_blank">The Disappearance of the Universe</a> as it
reads like one big frickin’ definitive statement for A Course in
Miracles, put in the everyday vernacular. By reading it multiple times,
you "get" the message on deeper level, thus making it that much easier
to remember to apply it when the stuff hits the fan, as it always does,
if not sooner, then later. Of course, as the saying goes, "simple but
not always easy."<br />
<br />
A Course in Miracles is a presentation of the absolute truth, with
Jesus (not to be confused with the fictional religious figure, but the
REAL Jesus) speaking the word of God, though written with a heavy dose
of metaphorical statements, statements that should not to be taken
literally. However, there are the aforementioned definitive statements,
which ARE meant to be taken literally. The following passages are some
of those definitive statements, although, in the end, everything except
God is metaphor:<br />
<br />
There is nothing about me that you cannot attain. I have nothing that
does not come from God. The difference between us now is that I have
nothing else.<br />
<br />
Projection makes perception.<br />
<br />
Whatever is true is eternal, and cannot change or be changed.<br />
<br />
Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists.<br />
<br />
Anger is NEVER justified.<br />
<br />
The secret of salvation is but this: That you are doing this unto yourself.<br />
<br />
Time and eternity are both in your mind, and will conflict until you
perceive time solely as a means to regain eternity. You cannot do this
as long as you believe that anything happening to you is caused by
factors outside yourself. You must learn that time is solely at your
disposal, and that nothing in the world can take this responsibility
from you.<br />
<br />
Forgiveness recognizes what you thought your brother did to you has
not occurred. It does not pardon sins and make them real. It sees
there was no sin. And in that view are all your sins forgiven.<br />
<br />
Fear binds the world. Forgiveness sets it free.<br />
<br />
You who want peace can find it only by complete forgiveness.<br />
<br />
The way to God is through forgiveness here. There is no other way.<br />
<br />
Forgiveness is the only function meaningful in time.<br />
<br />
As you condemn only yourself, so do you forgive only yourself.<br />
<br />
Only forgiveness heals an unforgiveness, and only an unforgiveness can possibly give rise to sickness of any kind.<br />
<br />
When you forgive the world your guilt, you will be free of it.<br />
<br />
Those whom you see as guilty become the witnesses to guilt in you,
and you will see it there, for it IS there until it is undone. Guilt is
always in your mind, which has condemned itself. Project it not, for
while you do, it cannot be undone.<br />
<br />
Perhaps you do not think you can let your grievances go. That, however, is simply a matter of motivation.<br />
<br />
The “reality” of death is firmly rooted in the belief that God’s Son
is a body. And if God created bodies, death would indeed be real. But
God would not be loving.<br />
<br />
Anything in this world that you believe is good and valuable and
worth striving for can hurt you, and will do so. Not because it has the
power to hurt, but just because you have denied it is but an illusion,
and made it real.<br />
<br />
The world you see holds nothing that you need to offer you; nothing
that you can use in any way, nor anything at all that serves to give you
joy. Believe this thought, and you are saved from years of misery, from
countless disappointments, and from hopes that turn to bitter ashes of
despair.<br />
<br />
The world as you perceive it cannot have been created by the Father;
for the world is not as you see it. God created only the eternal, and
everything you see is perishable.<br />
<br />
If this were the real world, God WOULD be cruel. For no Father could
subject His children to this as the price of salvation and BE<em> </em> loving.<br />
<br />
The world you see is an illusion of a world. God did not create it,
for what He creates must be eternal as Himself. Yet there is nothing in
the world you see that will endure forever. Some things will last in
time a little while longer than others. But the time will come when all
things visible will have an end.<br />
<br />
There is no world! This is the central thought this course attempts to teach.<br />
<br />
What if you recognized this world is an hallucination? What if you really understood you made it up?<br />
<br />
The world you seem to live in is not home to you. And somewhere in your mind you know that this is true.<br />
<br />
You dwell not here but in eternity.<br />
<br />
You are at home in God, dreaming of exile but perfectly capable of awakening to reality.<br />
<br />
Heaven asks nothing. It is hell that makes extravagant demands for sacrifice.<br />
<br />
The world is not left by death but by truth.<br />
<br />
You cannot behold the world and know God. Only one is true.<br />
<br />
The truth about you is so lofty that nothing unworthy of God is worthy of you.<br />
<br />
You can defend your specialness, but never will you hear the Voice for God beside it.<br />
<br />
You do not belong in time. Your place is only in eternity, where God Himself placed you forever.<br />
<br />
Forgive the world, and you will understand that everything that God
created cannot have an end, and nothing He did not create is real. In
this one sentence is our course explained.<br />
<br />
God is (and nothing else is.)<br />

book. It's easily my favorite book ever, as it's the first and only
book I've ever read on the topic of spirituality that made total sense
to me from cover to cover, and left me with no unanswered questions. It
also explains the the classic spi</span><span class="userContent">ritual
text, A Course in Miracles, like nothing else does. Also, keep in mind
that Gary is the student in the book, and his two teachers go by the
names of Arten and Pursah, who were two of Jesus' disciples, Thaddeus
and Thomas, respectively. Here goes:</span><span class="userContent"><div class="text_exposed_show">
<br /> ...One of the things
you'll notice is that we'll speak to you more and more in your own style
of language. In fact, we're going to put things to you very bluntly.
We think you're big enough to handle it, and we didn't come here to
waste time. You asked Jesus for help. He would have been happy to come
to you himself, but that's not what's called for right now. We're his
representatives. You wanted to know what it was like to be there with
him two thousand year ago. We were there and we'll be happy to tell
you, although you may be surprised to find out there are more advantages
to being a student of his today than there were back then.<br /> <br /> One
thing we're going to do is challenge you the way he repeatedly
challenged us. We're not going to be easy on you or tell you what you
want to hear. If you want to be handled with kid gloves, then go to a
theme park. If you're ready to be treated like an adult who has right
to know why noting in your universe can possibly work in the long run,
then we'll get down to business. You will also learn bot the cause of
this situation and the way out of it. So, what do you say?</div>

for eons. I got news for them: UH, IT DOESN'T WORK! That's why Jesus
teaches in A Course in Miracles, "Seek not to change the world, but
choose to change your mind about the world." Then you're dealing with
the cause instead of screwing around with effects. And when you're
taking care of the cause - which is in the mind - then it doesn't matter
if the effect changes or not. Of course, we're all going to be doing
things while we appear to be here, the key is not having psychological
attachment to the outcome. Giddy up!</span><br />

the Universe and Your Immortal Reality, as well as from my Dude,
Where’s My Jesus Fish? book, on the topic of special relationships
connected to past lives. <br />
<br />
<br />
<b>Your Immortal Reality</b><br />
<b> </b>When you meet people in this lifetime whom you’ve
had dealings and special hate interests with before in other lifetimes,
it’s because you’re orbiting each other, just as planets orbit the sun.
Because the unconscious mind has retained the memory of them, you’ll
have conflict, sometimes right away and sometimes later in the
relationship. That shows up as a problem for you, but it's also a
marvelous opportunity, if you have the mental discipline to use it. J is
very eloquent about that when he says, "The holiest of all the spots on
earth is where an ancient hatred has become a present love."<br />
<br />
In some lifetimes you'll be the victim, and in others, the
victimizer. The question is, what are you going to use it for this
time, freedom or bondage? Are you going to get that you are NOT<i> </i>a victim and take responsibility for dreaming, or are you going to make it real and stay stuck here?<br />
<br />
<b>Your Immortal Reality</b><br />
The reason some of your forgiveness lessons are so hard is because
your unconscious mind remembers the bad relationship you had with the
other person in a previous lifetime, so you’ve been set up to have
tremendous unconscious resistance to forgiving them in this lifetime.
Plus, there’s the resistance to giving up your personal identity that is
always there, because the ego senses that if you practice forgiveness,
then this is its end. EVERYONE has these past-life relationships, and
the memories are unconscious. That’s why it’s so much harder to forgive
your special hate relationships than your special love relationships.<br />
<br />
<b>Your Immortal Reality</b><br />
It's easy to forgive your special love relationships - your family,
friends, and lovers - just because you love them. On the other hand,
your special hate relationships, the people you don't like, well, you're
never gonna forgive those bastards because they don't deserve it. But
you think the people you love deserve only good. So even if a member of
your family killed somebody, you'd be right there in the courtroom,
rooting for them to get off. Yet real love and forgiveness wouldn't
exclude anyone. They apply to everyone.<br />
<br />
<b>Mikey's Note:</b> Of course, forgiveness doesn't mean
you have to hang out with those you are forgiving. It's just a matter of
seeing people as they really are, as innocent. Until we see everyone
as being completely innocent, we won't see ourselves as being completely
innocent. When we feel a need to condemn someone, what we are really
doing is just condemning an aspect of our own selves, and those people
who we think we are making wrong in our minds is just a symbol of how we
really feel about ourselves, though it’s usually unconscious. As A
Course in Miracles clearly puts it, “As you see him you will see
yourself. As you treat him you will treat yourself. As you think of
him you will think of yourself. Never forget this, for in him you will
find yourself or lose yourself.”<br />
<br />
<b>The Disappearance of the Universe</b><br />
Just as the world confuses pain with pleasure, it also confuses
sacrifice with love. Yet what is sacrifice in the final analysis but a
call for pain? Is that what you really want for the ones you love?
Your special loves are simply idols in which you seek to get what you
feel is lacking in yourself. Romance is a vain attempt to fill an
imagined emptiness – a hole that doesn't really exist, but that you
experience as a result of the separation. That sense of lack can really
only be healed by the Atonement and salvation, leading you to the
wholeness of your oneness with God.<br />
<br />
<b>Dude, Where’s My Jesus Fish?</b><br />
Certainly nothing wrong with being in a romantic relationship, or having any other<i> </i>type of<i> </i>special
love relationship. Even Jesus had special love relationships, as Arten
and Pursah inform us that he was married to Mary Mag’dalene. So, it’s
not about GIVING UP special love relationships, it’s all about forgiving
any psychological attachment you may have to your special love
relationships. So if you find yourself demanding, what Arten refers to
as, ‘the fulfillment of special love bargains’ then that’s the red flag
that there is something that needs to be forgiven. Also, any feelings
of abandonment or resentment when the special love relationship comes to
an end will obviously need to be forgiven as well.<br />
<br />
<b>The Disappearance of the Universe</b><br />
I give you this humble bit of counseling when it comes to all of
your relationships in this world, whether they were founded on special
love or special hate: Why don't you stop worrying about whether or not
people love you and just love them? Then it doesn't matter what they
think about YOU. You can just BE love. It's so simple! And guess
what? It will ultimately determine how you feel about yourself!<br />
<br />
<b>Mikey’s Note:</b> As I mentioned in the Dude book, I
think it is fair to say that I don’t have any special hate
relationships, but I do have a number of special undesirable ones. And
we can’t talk about special relationships without saying something about
sex, so here goes:<br />
<br />
<b>The Disappearance of the Universe</b><br />
The physical act of sex doesn't even come close to the incredible
bliss of Heaven. It's just a poor, made-up imitation of union with
God. It's a false idol made to fix your attention on the body and the
world with just enough of a payoff to keep you coming back for more.
It's very similar to a narcotic. Heaven, on the other hand, is a
perfect, indescribable ecstasy that never ceases; the very peak of a
perfect sexual orgasm, except this orgasm never stops. It keeps going
on forever with no decrease in its powerful and flawless intensity.<br />
<br />
<b>Mikey’s Note:</b> I like Pursah’s pun, “coming back for
more.” Anyway, doesn't mean we can't have it and enjoy it, like anything
else in this world that brings us instant but temporary gratification,
it's just a matter of not being psychologically attached to it.<br />
<br />
Wrapping this puppy up with a funny:<br />
<b>The Disappearance of the Universe</b><br />
<b>Pursah: </b>Since sex is part of what you call life, where would you like to begin?<br />
<b>Gary:</b> The Course teaches that temptation wants to
convince me I'm a body, so I guess the question is: How do I live the
normal life you said I could live, practice the Course, and still not
feel bad about that body identification part of my dream life?<br />
<b>Arten:</b> By remembering what it is and forgiving it at
an appropriate time. A dream is nothing, and sex is nothing. But I
wouldn’t recommend that you turn to your partner after making love and
say, ‘That was nothing.’<br />
<b>Gary:</b> I KNEW I was doing something wrong.<br />
<br />
<br />

Here's the content, followed by the direct link. Enjoy!<br />

Giddy Up Mikey's wonderful book maintains total fun while being totally
true to the oh-so-helpful pure non-dual metaphysics in Gary Renard's
'ACIM can-opener' books. It stands on its own as an enjoyable read, an
introduction to the importance of quantum forgiveness and a stellar
collection of his well-organized and profound quotes from Renard's work.
If you've read ACIM and/or Gary's books, so much the better, and your
appreciation of DWMJF will be even more meaningful. If not, you're still
in for a treat and this might be just the 'grudge door opener' to
prompt further exploration in the realm of undoing the belief in
separation.<br />
<br />
Full disclosure: Mikey is a dear friend, always a joy to be
around (often the trigger for uncontrollable laughter in our study
groups), and a great example of kindness and thoughtfulness. I would
have written the same review even if I'd never 'met' him and shared lots
of great times, though! :-)<br />

Code: Universal Symbolic Mirrors of Natural Laws Within Us; Friendly
Reminders of Inclusion to Forgive the Dreamer of Separation </i><br />

Thanks Bruce, giddy up! <br />
